211 Model 1829 Flintlock Artillery Musketoon French. .67 caliber, 23.5” smoothbore round barrel, octagonal at the breech, with proof marks, dated “1833,” tang marked “M 1829.” Original flint, lock with brass pan, plate engraved “M.re R.le / de Mutzig;” action functions properly. Walnut half-stock with brass furniture and iron ramrod. Good. Bore has moderate surface oxidation. Overall light age and service wear. $1,500 - $2,000

212 Model 1830 Pontcharra System Breech Loading Percussion Carbine French. .65 caliber, 16” smoothbore round barrel terminating in a rectangular breech which holds a pivoting block with a cavity for the charge; combination rear sight and lift handle, and nipple. Block secured with a hinged gate. Internal action with hammer functions smoothly. Walnut half-stock with brass and iron furniture including a saddle ring. Buttstock stamped with a “MUSEE DE L’ART’Le” cartouche on the obverse and a museum inventory number paper label “117” is attached on the buttplate. Included is a small handwritten paper tag in English describing the weapon as a “Mousqueton d’Elite” and comparing it to other Pontcharra system firearms.Excellent. Bore very good. Light storage wear. $3,500 - $4,000

213 Model 1840 Percussion Rifled Musket French. .69 caliber, 40.75” rifled round barrel, octagonal at the breech, with proof marks and date “1841,” fixed sights, tang marked “Mle 1840.” Backlock action functions properly, plate engraved “Mre. Rle. / de St.Etienne.” Three-band walnut stock with iron furniture and ramrod. A number of these muskets were imported during the American Civil War. Very good. Bore good. Metal finish turning an even light brown. $1,000 - $1,250

214 Model 1840 LePage System Breech Loading Cavalry Musketoon French. .65 caliber, 21.25” smoothbore round barrel, octagonal at the breech, with proof marks, dated “1840,” retaining most of the black painted finish. Brass barrel band slides forward allowing the barrel to pivot left for loading. Frame with cone-shaped nipple base, retains good traces of case colors, engraved “Mre. Rle. / de St. Etienne;” action functions properly. Walnut buttstock with vanished finish, brass furniture and iron bracket for saddle ring. A very early breechloader. Good. Bore very good. Nipple moderately hammered and vent hole plugged. Minor warping of the reverse side of the stock away from the frame. $3,500 - $4,500 68
