196 Model 1842 Gendarmerie Single-Shot Percussion Pistol, Royal Mutzig French. .60 caliber, 5.2” round-to-octagonal smoothbore barrel, proof marked and dated “1846,” tang engraved “Mle 1842.” Back action lock marked “Mre Rle / de Mutzig;” action in working order. Walnut stock with profuse arsenal marks and iron furniture. Has several painted museum accession numbers. Complete with iron ramrod. Good. Good bore with light pitting. Average age toning. One gouge spot on the back of the wrist. $750 - $1,250

197 Model 1842 Gendarmerie Single-Shot Percussion Pistol, National Mutzig French. .60 caliber, 5.2” round-to-octagonal smoothbore barrel, proof marked and dated “1849,” tang engraved “Mle 1842.” Back action lock marked “Mre. Nle. / de Mutzig;” action in working order, but does not hold at half cock when the trigger is pulled. Walnut stock with arsenal marks, number “142” and iron furniture. Complete with iron ramrod. Fair to good. Bore with light oxidation. Even dark gray metal finish. Stock has hairline cracks on the forearm and around the grip. Ramrod with active surface oxidation. $500 - $750

Impale. / de Mutzig;” action in working order. Walnut stock with faint arsenal marks, number “C 27” and iron furniture. Complete with iron ramrod. Good to very good. Good bore. Metal with even light gray finish. $500 - $750

199 Model 1849 Marine Single-Shot Percussion Pistols, Lot of Two French. .60 caliber, 6.75” round-to-octagonal smoothbore barrels, proof marked and dated “1851,” tang engraved “Mle 1849.” Back action lock marked “Mre. Nle. de / Chatellerault;” action in working order, but one pistol does not hold at half cock when the trigger is pulled. Walnut stocks, one with arsenal marks, brass furniture anchor mark on the pommel. Complete with iron ramrods with retaining chains, lanyard rings and belt hooks. Good. Very good bores. Normal age and service wear. $3,500 - $4,000
