Hilt of cast brass has straight cross guard with lion’s head center panels and finials, smooth grip and a detailed crowing Gallic rooster’s head pommel. Scabbard has engraved brass mountings; leather cover is a contemporary restoration. Good. Light aging on the blade. $2,500 - $3,000

73 Model An IX Navy Cutlass French. 26.5” curved blade with fuller, engraved with an anchor on both sides; spine Klingenthal arsenal marked. Hilt has blackened iron cup guard and pommel; octagonal wood grip painted black. Complete with all leather scabbard stamped with rack numbers. Good. Blade water stained. Normal age and wear. $1,500 - $2,000

74 Model 1784 Dragoon Officer’s Garde de Bataille Saber French. 38” plain blade, ricasso maker marked “AP.” Hilt has brass stirrup guard with pierced basket in imitation of St. James’ seashell and pommel. Grip wrapped in leather and brass wire. Complete with brass-mounted leather scabbard with iron drag. Good. Blade has light overall age toning.
