Mel Flanagan Collection 461 Iron Matchlock Axe with Concealed Dagger .64 caliber, 15.5” barrel, 25” overall including stored dagger and grip that are screwed into the barrel of the matchlock for storage when the gun is not in use. The axe head is 6” across. The blade of the dagger is 11.5” and marked on the ricasso. A flared iron ramrod is accompanied this combination weapon and is held by two ferrules. This oddity weapon is in overall good to very good condition displaying an even light patina on iron surfaces. The blade is overall very good. There are two brass accent rings on the weapon - one near the breech of the barrel and the other at the base of the dagger’s grip. $1,000 - $2,000
462 Ornate Iron Matchlock Axe Gun with Dagger Stored in Barrel .45 caliber, 10.5” barrel, 23” overall including dagger in barrel; fancy etched axe head 7.25” wide including decorative brass figure opposite the curved blade head. Brass-tipped iron ramrod present, held by two iron ferrules on the bottom of the barrel. Dagger is 14” overall including brass elephant head pommel and the blade is 9.5” long. When matchlock is not in use, the dagger is stored in the barrel and secured by screwing it into the muzzle (reverse threaded). This interesting piece of early armament is in overall good condition with particularly intricate etching on both sides of the blade head. $1,000 - $2,000
463 East Indian All-Iron Matchlock Axe Gun with “D”Guard Hilt .58 caliber, 18” integral barrel, 25.5” overall. With twoheaded axe blade 7” across, 4.5” from the muzzle of the gun portion of the weapon. This oddity weapon is in overall good condition showing a dark patina to rugged iron surfaces.
