SHINING FOR JESUS!
Living our lives with Christ-like character gives glory to God and attracts all people to Him.
Scripture - Matthew 5:16 1. ACTIVITY BITE Prop: Small torchlight Do this at night. Switch off all the house lights. Name an object to be found (or describe the object without saying what it is) and get your children to look for them using the torchlight. 2. CHAT TIME Q1: How many of your school classmates know you are a Christian? Q2: What do you think they will say about Christians – good things or bad things? Q3: What can you do so that your friends will say good things about Christians and want to know more about God? 3. LEARNING POINT People want to know more about God when they see us living according to God’s word, for example caring for others, not telling lies, being honest and respectful, and always giving thanks. It’s like a torchlight that points to the right way in the dark. God has made us His light so that we can shine for Jesus! 4. ACTION POINT Do one good thing for friends who do not know Jesus to bless them. Example: Write a short encouraging card/note, prepare some cookies and pass to your neighbour, etc. 5. PRAYER POWER (Ask your children to pray after you.) Dear God, I want to live according to Your ways. Help me care more for others, not to tell lies, be honest and respectful, and always give thanks to You. I am sorry if I have been doing or saying things that are not pleasing to You. I want to shine for Jesus so that all my friends will say that You are good and want to know You more. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
