The Camas County Fair begins this Thursday with the Rabbit Show in the City Park at 8:30 a.m. In the afternoon, the Kids Bike Parade (5:45) will lead the way to the City Park for the Free Night at the Carnival. New this year is "Traveling Tails" petting zoo for kids young and old. Bingo will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday morning at 9:00 a.m. the 4-H Archery Shoot will be held at the baseball field (west side of town behind Iron Mountain Inn). At 10:00 the Legion Hall will open with 4-H and Open Class displays. From noon to 4:00 get your car washed by the Lady Mushers in front of the school. Family Night at the Carnival will have lots of food vendors and a Corn Hole Tournament beginning at 6:00. Once the sun goes down, the lights will flicker with a Movie in the Park.

Saturday morning have breakfast with the Camas Cheerleaders in the City Park from 7 a.m. till they run out. The 4-H Livestock show begins at 8 a.m. with the Livestock Auction at 2 p.m.

The "Fast Cars & Freedom" parade will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Grand Marshals Jack & Gayle Bachtell. The Bachtells came to Camas County in 1993 with Jack teaching at the school and Gayle working for various county officials. In 1999, Gayle was elected Camas County Treasurer (a job she loved) and began 20 years on the Fair Board.

In 2002, they faced a big challenge when Jack was diagnosed with cancer. While it cut his teaching career short, Jack is a proud cancer survivor of 21 years. Gayle retired in 2020 and today they enjoy reading and gardening at their little house in the country.

After the parade and the livestock sale, head over to the C Me Later arena for the Junior Bull Riders and Mutton Busting from 6:30 to 8:30. At 9:00 p.m. the Jeff Palmer Band will play for the Street Dance in the middle of Soldier Road.

On Sunday the American Legion will serve breakfast from 8 to 11 at the Legion Hall. At 10:30 a.m. the City Park will host Church in the Park followed by a car show and Music in the Park with Dustin & the Rocky Mountain Riders.
