Rescue from a Computer Panic

Rescue from a Weekend Computer Panic

potential

Acustomer called frantically Sunday morning saying all files, pictures and programs disappeared after her computer had ‘bluescreened’. “Blue screen” crashes are often caused by faulty drivers (programs that control a particular type of hardware) or a faulty hard drive. I diagnosed the issue over the phone and told her I would see if our tech was available. She was fearful that she would not only need a new computer but that she had lost all of her files, pictures, music, etc. Jeff went over to her house that same day, picked up her computer and took it with him to work on. He fixed it Sunday evening by replacing the mechanical (spinning disc) hard drive with a solid-state (no moving parts, longer lasting, faster) hard drive in the computer, re-installed Windows and transferred/installed all files and applications. By Monday afternoon the computer was ready for the client. He brought the revamped computer back to her and re-connected it to her network, printer, monitor and speakers. Along with all of her files, pictures and programs, the latest operating system was installed with robust virus/malware protections. Her computer is now faster (with the addition of the solid-state hard drive), error free and all of her data has been restored. Needless to say, the client’s Sunday morning frantic phone call turned into an ecstatic customer within 24 hours as Jeff “saved the day.”
