(l-r) Jenna Paul and Dacy Buerkle Advanced animal science digestive tracts

By Jenna Paul

In Mrs. Menees advanced animal science, Jenna Paul and Dacy Buerkle learned about the digestive tracts in animals. They finished their unit by creating digestive tracts from household items such as balloons, straws, detergent cups, sponges and plastic cups. Jenna made a monogastric tract, consisting of one stomach; these animals include horse, dog and cows. Dacy made a ruminant tract, consisting of four stomachs; these animals include cows, sheep and goats. Overall, they had a fun and educational time working on their digestive tracts.

On Feb. 13, Mrs. Downing’s first grade and Mrs. Oberlander’s second grade classes traveled to the Plevna Senior Citizen Center to spread the joy of music for Valentine’s Day. After singing a few lovely songs, the students enjoyed some hot chocolate. Not only did the students enjoy singing, but the senior citizens also had fun visiting and listening to the fantastic music performance by our first and second graders. The music shared by Mrs. Wagnon’s Plevna School Pep Band, consisting of students and community members, was enjoyed as they played at the home basketball games.

Thanks to Ms. Boyer, the middle school students provided us with some cheerleaders for our home basketball games. (L-r): Maile Wright, Jordan Hauff, Kali Dulin, Tonna MacYeaple and Billie Jo Miller.
