Trees which will add value to your property Gardens in Cornwall have been singled out for a list of the most valuable trees the public could have in their garden, along with how much it would cost to replace them. The list includes ten trees that could boost the value of your garden by up to Chinese Magnolia £8,500, including olives, magnolias and the most valuable formally pruned hedges. Japanese maples in particular are known to thrive in the British climate when properly looked after and are a favourite with gardeners. It is not uncommon to find five or more in a single garden. Research has shown that a well-maintained garden can add up to 20% to your property value, which equates to more than £60,000 based on the current average UK house price.

Strong pull for gardeners at Royal Cornwall Show There’s a strong gardening theme to the high profile Royal Cornwall Show which is in its 226th year. Around 120,000 visitors attend the event held this year from Tuesday, 4th June to Thursday 6th June This has been Cornwall’s showcase event since it was first held back in 1793 and as you’d expect from a county show, a fascinating glimpse into rural life in the county. Apart from the livestock judging, there is the famous flower tent decked out with wonderful displays from individuals and local nurseries. There will also be some 1,000 trade stands covering a huge range of products and services to buy. They include everything from quality clothing and unique crafts to new cars and combine harvesters. The show is held at the Royal Cornwall Events Centre in Whitecross, Wadebridge. Gates open for ticket holders at 7am and the show opens to the public at 8.30am daily.
