Party Starter This look, spotted on the runway for Christian Siriano and on Julia Fox, is ideal for a fun night out. “I think we’re seeing a return to bolder looks that make a statement, and nothing says winter chic like the balance of shimmer and shadow,” says celebrity makeup and hair artist Blair Petty. “The glitter adds a touch of brightness that feels festive for the holidays but edgy enough for the runway.”Petty says to start with a creamy eyeshadow base, then layer on a charcoal or espresso eyeshadow, blending it up and out for a smoky effect. For the glitter, he suggests going for a finely milled, high-quality pigment. Apply it to the eyelid using a small brush or your finger for a more intense sparkle, “focusing on the center to add dimension,” Petty says. To make the look last, start with an eyeshadow primer and set the base with translucent powder, use a liquid glitter adhesive and finish with a setting spray.
BEST FOR: Making moves on the New Year’s Eve dance floor.
