PROPERTY MATTERS
Plymouth property put on the map by Lang Town & Country Plymouth properties have been showcased in London and Southampton, thanks to the team at Lang Town & Country, one of the city’s leading independent estate agencies. Gareth Forrest, director of the agency’s Waterside Homes branch in the Barbican and his colleague Becky Ford attended the Southampton International Boat Show between September 16 and 25, which attracted over 100,000 visitors. Lang Town & Country, as members of the Waterside Properties Network, were the only agents from the city to attend the event - which is rated among the top five boat shows in the world. Gareth said: “The Waterside Properties Network is represented by estate agents in prime coastal, river and estuary locations, which enables us to reach potential buyers from all over the country. “We were the only agent advertising properties from the Plymouth area at the Southampton International Boat Show and we had some very positive discussions with people who are looking to relocate to Britain’s Ocean City. “It was the fourth year that we attended the event and we are confident that we will will have some good news for clients as a result. “We have seen over those four years the positive effect that the improved marketing of Plymouth as Britain’s Ocean City has had on potential buyers. Interest in the city has increased year on year and there is growing demand from the yachting fraternity for property in Plymouth.” Earlier in the month staff from three of Lang Town & Country’s branches in the city travelled to London to spend a day at the Mayfair Office Group, in the heart of the capital. Andrew Genge, who works at the Plymstock branch, Olivia Boulting, from the Mannamead branch and Becky Ford from the Waterside branch, were able to display a large number of

Lang Town & Country is part of the Mayfair Office Group, which has over 300 independent estate agent members all over the UK and 150 more in North America and Australia. Olivia said: “It was my first visit to the Mayfair Office Group and it was good to find out more about the network of estate agents here in the UK and other parts of the world which are part of the Group. “We were able to advertise Plymouth properties in the window during the day and also contact clients to progress transactions.” James Clarke, managing director of Lang Town & Country said: “Although we are firmly based in Plymouth, as part of the Waterside Properties Network and the Mayfair Office Group, we can provide clients with valuable exposure outside the city. “The London Day event was an important opportunity for our three staff members to understand how the network operates and the benefits of being part of a national and international organisation.” The busy September schedule followed a record month for Lang Town & Country’s Mannamead branch. James said: “Inevitably there was a lot of uncertainty about how the property market would react to the Brexit vote, but I’m pleased to say that we have experienced a very positive response. “We completed nearly 30 transactions in August through the Mannamead branch, which is the highest we’ve ever achieved in that month. Traditionally August tends to be relatively quiet because of the holidays - but that was not the case this year. “We were extremely busy throughout the whole month and all of our branches achieved positive results,” he added.
