ROOM 182, MYRON TAYLOR HALL

ROOM 182, MYRON TAYLOR HALL

Immigration is at the forefront of U.S. law and policy. President Trump is building a wall along the U.S.Mexico border and imposing bans on Muslim immigrants. The U.S. immigration agency is reinterpreting current laws and regulations to make it harder for employers to hire foreign nationals, U.S. citizens to sponsor close family members for green cards, and refugees to resettle in the United States. Immigration advocates are vigorously challenging these actions through litigation. Join Professors Stephen Yale-Loehr and Jaclyn Kelley-Widmer as they analyze the legal and policy implications of immigration changes under the Trump administration.

The traditional practice of law has been impacted by rapid changes in available technologies. This program will discuss and analyze how the evolving technology landscape is changing practice and how new technologies can be used in the practice of law. Data security and cloud computing issues will be analyzed. Ethical issues will be considered including those relating to proper use of technology and data management. Electronic communications and social networking tools will also be explored.

Presented by Stephen Yale-Loehr, AB ’77, JD ’81, Cornell Law School Professor of Immigration Law Practice; Jaclyn Kelley-Widmer, Assistant Clinical Professor of Law (Lawyering) Attendees will be eligible to receive 1.5 hours of New York State credit in the area of Professional Practice (Attorneys who practice outside New York may be eligible for reciprocal CLE credit.)

landmarks and explore how the waterfall and creek have changed the landscape in the last 10,000 years. This hike is completely flat and suitable for aged 6 and up.

As you know, a unique feature of the Law School is its location in a beautiful, cosmopolitan, and quirky city in the heart of the Finger Lakes. This year, several Reunion activities celebrate the region’s stunning natural beauty and robust culinary scene. On Friday afternoon, you can participate in a wine tasting event and on Saturday, if you want to get out and about, you can take a spectacular natural-history-themed gorge hike.

THURSDAY, 6/7

Please Be Sure to Register By Our May 31 DEADLINE. Enjoy Early Bird Discounts Until May 10.

When you walk the halls where you studied, deliberated, debated, and began practicing law, you’re bound to notice some changes. This year’s Reunion will be the first to showcase the complete renovation of Hughes Hall, which has been converted into modern spaces essential to the fulfillment of the Law School’s educational mission. In addition, you’ll be able to tour the stunning new wing for academic instruction. Featuring three state-of-the-art classrooms, a beautiful lobby, and impressive entrance, this new space suits our needs and character and our sense of community.

We will also host a variety of informative activities, including presentations from alumni and faculty at which you can learn about current Law School programs and initiatives. In addition, we are offering CLE programs, one having to do with immigration and one on how technology is changing the practice of law.
