The head of Serbia’s EU accession negotiations team, Tanja Miščević, has been awarded the French National Order of Merit, in recognition of her contribution to promoting European values and integration. Speaking at the award ceremony at the French Embassy, H.E. Christine Moro, Ambassador of the Republic of France, said that European integration is primarily represented by a sense of belonging, and that Serbia’s “belonging is not only felt, but alive”. She said that it is necessary to exert efforts to realise that future and that Serbia is awaited by difficult reforms, but that France is determined to support Serbia on its European path. “The recognition I received means that I do my job well and that they believe in Serbia in the EU and the EU in Serbia,” said Miščević.

The American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) and the U.S. Embassy in Serbia marked World Intellectual Property Day with a gathering on the premises of AmCham that included the presenting of data on progress achieved in terms of the protection of intellectual property rights in Serbia and discussion of the challenges present in this domain. The gathering was addressed by Zoran Petrović, Chairman of the AmCham Board of Directors, H.E. Kyle Scott, U.S. Ambassador to Serbia, Vladimir Popović, Serbian State Secretary at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, Slaviša Đukanović, Deputy Head of the Serbian Interior Ministry’s Sector for Analytics, Telecommunications and Information Technology, Vladimir Marić, acting director of the Institute for Intellectual Property, and Dragomir Kojić, Chair of the Group for Intellectual Property within the AmCham Committee for the fight against the grey economy and Head of the Intellectual Property Department of Commercial Law Firm Karanović & Nikolić, who all agreed that great progress has been achieved over the past ten years with regard to the protection of intellectual property.

The Goethe-Institut in Belgrade has organised a business breakfast for media representatives, which included a welcome address by H.E. Axel Dittmann, German Ambassador to Serbia, and also saw those in attendance addressed by Frank Baumann, new director of the Goethe-Institut in Belgrade, and Dr Bernd Schneider, who briefly presented the GoetheInstitut’s activities related to German language courses. Following the opening speeches, the hosts responded to media questions. Guests later toured Zepter Palace and used the opportunity to check out the space where the German language courses of the Goethe-Institut in Belgrade recently began being taught.
