2020-2021 Health and Human Sciences Review Highlighted Programming Pressure Canner Testing Offered by Jessica Martini, HHS/4-H Youth Educator 

On July 23rd, 2021, I received training for Pressure Canner Testing. This is now available at our Jefferson County Office! The fee for Pressure Canner Testing is $5 per test.

Homemaker Watch Party—Stay Sharp: 5 Steps to Improve Cognitive Function Presented by Jessica Martini, HHS/4-H Youth Educator 

Area 1 HHS Educators teamed up on August 26th to deliver a Homemaker Watch Party. In Jefferson County, I taught “Stay Sharp: 5 Steps to Improve Cognitive Function”. I had the privilege of teaching 10 participants about normal or fleeting memory loss.

Get WalkIN’ Presented by Jessica Martini, HHS/4-H Youth Educator 

This completely email-based program serves participants through providing motivation and resources as they “Get WalkIN’” in Jefferson County. The program emails began on September 20th and ended on December 6th. In total, we had 11 individuals participate virtually.

Where Does Your Money Go? Presented by Jessica Martini, HHS/4-H Youth Educator 

Where Does Your Money Go? (WDYMG) is a program designed to help consumers better understand how they spend their money. This program was presented in two session to a group of 11 Jefferson County Homemakers on October 20th and a group of 8 on November 10th.

Youth Mental Health First Aid Presented by Britt Copeland, ANR/4-H Youth Educator 

This program was delivered in person at Jefferson County in November of 2021 and continues to be delivered virtually to adults who interact with youth. Visit https://extension.purdue.edu/mhfa/ to learn more or sign up for a course.

Healthy Holiday Hacks Presented by Jessica Martini, HHS/4-H Youth Educator & Fellow Area 1 HHS Educators 

From November 2nd until December 14th, Area 1 HHS Educators teamed up to do a virtual Facebook video series to give viewers healthy tips during the holiday season. I presented Low Calorie Holiday Desserts on December 7th and the video now has roughly 200 views!

Serving Up MyPlate Presented by Jessica Martini, HHS/4-H Youth Educator 

Serving Up MyPlate is an HHS curriculum that introduces students to nutrition, physical activity, and food safety. On January 6th, 18th, and 21st, I taught this curriculum to 3rd grade students at Christian Academy of Madison.

Captain Cash Presented by Jessica Martini, HHS/4-H Youth Educator 

Captain Cash is an interactive educational program designed to teach earning, saving, borrowing, and spending financial skills to 3rd grade students.
