What we say We all have one of those mates who just happens to 'forget their wallet' every time it comes to their shout. But we’re not sure this app will actually resolve that issue. Call us old fashioned, but when it comes to buying rounds, we’re big believers in the age-old code of honour.

You have alcohol, you have a stocked bar and now you can whip up an impressive cocktail or two with this handy app. Easy on the eye and easy to use, you just tick off the ingredients you already have, and it shows you what cocktails you can make. You have to pay money to add more popular recipes, but if you’re after a quick on-thespot guide, it’s not a bad app.

What we say If you want to become a ‘spirit snob’ Flaviar is the perfect app for you. But it’s not pretentious in any way at all – it’s fun, intuitive and a visual feast. The Flavour Spiral feature was developed in consultation with spirit experts and connoisseurs who created comprehensive tasting notes for thousands of spirits. By showing visuals of the flavour profiles that make up a particular drink, you really can get an idea of what’s inside a bottle – without actually taking a swig.
