KNOW SOME FACTS… Early Symptoms Of Breast Cancer • Lump in the Breast The most commonly heard symptom of breast cancer is the discovery of a lump in the breast. This lump can be soft, or it can feel like a hard knot in the breast tissue. While lumpps in the breast and the tissue around are common, and not alwayys a siggn of tumor growth, it is best to talk to a medical professional if they continue or expand. Lumps can sometimes not be detected until cancer progresses to its later stages. Small growths that are not felt in palpitation can sometimes appear in mammogram. A cancer lump is more likely to be an unpainful, rough mass of irregular edges.
• Changes To The Skin’s Texture Breast cancer can induce changes in skin cells and inflammation - which can lead to changes in skin texture. Symptoms of these changes include: **Scaly skin around the nipple and isola, as if the skin is sunburned ** Thickening of the skin in any part of the breast
• Lymph Node Changes Lymph nodes are thin, rounded immune system tissue collections that filter the fluid and catch potentially harmful pathogens. These include cancerous cells, bacteria, and viruses. When a cancer cell leaves the breast, the first location that it moves to is the area of the underarm lymph node on the same side as the infected breast. This can cause the region to swell.
• Redness Breast cancer can cause skin changes that may cause it to appear discolored or even bruised. The skin may become red or purple, or bluish in color. If a person hasn’t had a recent breast trauma to justify those changes, they should see their doctor.
• Swelling Breast cancer can cause swelling of the entire breast area. After this swelling, there may not be a distinct lump but the breast may differ in size from the other breast. Although people can have breasts that are always slightly different in size, this swelling would cause a change from their usual size of the breast. Because of the swelling, the skin may also feel tight. Women should not be in fear or scared when they notice changes to the breast. Aging, hormone imbalances, and other non-cancerous factors can also result in changes in the breast.
