Nasceu em 1878 na antiga praça do pão e, desde então, manteve a fama que lhe é reconhecida. Poucas se lhe equiparam na arte biscoiteira: fidalgos, delícias, línguas e tantas outras perdições de devorar enquanto o diabo esfrega um olho! A variedade de pão é imensa, com farinhas e sementes para todos os gostos. Para saborear os melhores salgadinhos e lanches da cidade é obrigatório fazer uma visita a esta casa onde a tradição ainda é o que era! 3 Opened in 1878, it has kept the fame it deserves ever since. It has few rivals in the art of biscuit making: “fidalgos”, “delícias”, “línguas” and so many other temptations to devour at the first hint of weakness! The variety of bread is huge, with types of flour and seeds for all tastes. If you want to try the best savouries and snacks in the city, then you have to visit this establishment – where tradition is still what it was!
A taberna é à moda do Porto, mas existe um indisfarçável carinho do interior do país, não fossem a D. Hermínia e o Sr. Vitor originários de Resende e de Mêda. A simpatia é uma constante, a comida é tradicional portuguesa claro - e chega à mesa carregada de amor! Um excelente ponto de encontro para beber um copo, com a vista deslumbrante das Virtudes ao virar da esquina. Obrigatório provar, nem que seja para um petisco ao balcão. 3 This ‘taberna’ is local in style, but there’s a definite hint of something else to it, but then again Dona Hermínia and Senhor Vitor are from Resende and Mêda. You always feel welcome and the food is traditional Portuguese – of course – and made with real love! A great place to meet up with friends for a drink, with a stunning view of Virtudes just round the corner. Not to be missed, even if just for a snack at the counter.

O teto côncavo de madeira lembra o casco de um barco numa alusão ao rio ali tão perto. Este restaurante continua a ser um dos preferidos dos portuenses quando procuram a garantia de sabores autênticos e um bom vinho à mesa. A cozinha é regional e as especialidades são muitas! Para os mais indecisos, o Sr. António Coelho saberá elucidar com precisão. Afinal, ele é o rosto de uma casa com quase 100 anos de tradição! 3 The concave wooden ceiling is like the hull of a boat, an allusion to the river right next door. This restaurant is still one of the places locals head to when they’re looking for guaranteed authentic flavours and a good wine. The cooking is regional and the house specialities plenty! For the more indecisive, the owner, Senhor António Coelho provides perfect advice. But then he is the face of an establishment that’s almost 100 years old!
