ALCÂNTARA Às portas de Lisboa, aqui o Tejo é protagonista. At the gateway to Lisbon, the Tagus takes centre stage. Belém is the jewel in the crown, a spacious and green area with the country’s largest concentration of heritage and museums and two of the city’s main cultural attractions: the CCB and MAAT. Walk up to Ajuda for a special and unmissable view of the river and a visit to the Palace. Then down to Restelo, a calm residential area, for a stroll through the “Rua das lojas” to remind you how good high street shopping can be. Alcântara has plenty to offer: a pleasant walk beside the river or a more urban and alternative experience at LX Factory, an irreverent place of leisure.
