Quem se passeia pelo jardim está longe de suspeitar que por baixo dos seus pés se esconde um espantoso subterrâneo, um enorme reservatório construído no séc. XIX, com a finalidade de distribuir água na zona baixa da cidade. Deixou de servir nos anos 40 transformando-se mais tarde num espaço cenográfico com escadas, pilares, arcos, galerias, uma verdadeira catedral no subsolo e um dos 4 núcleos que fazem parte do Museu da Água. 3 Little do those who take a stroll through the park realise that hidden below their feet is an underground wonder - a huge reservoir built in the 19 th century to channel water to the downtown area of the city. It became obsolete in the 1940s and was later turned into an atmospheric backdrop with stairs, pillars, arches and galleries.
