ovo pólo cultural da cidade, o MAAT nasceu com o objetivo de colocar Lisboa no mapa internacional da arte contemporânea. O museu é composto pelo recém-inaugurado edifício, desenhado pela arquiteta Amanda Levete, e pela Central Tejo, uma emblemática construção industrial do séc. XX. À beira-rio plantado, o edifício futurista de formas orgânicas integra-se na paisagem e tira partido dos ativos naturais. A sua cobertura, uma sala de estar a céu aberto, deixa a vista livre para a cidade e para o rio. Autêntico hub criativo, o MAAT cruza três áreas - Arte, Arquitetura e Tecnologia - num espaço de debate, descoberta e diálogo. Além das exposições temporárias, a programação apresenta diversos olhares curatoriais sobre a Coleção de Arte da Fundação EDP e oferece um intenso programa educativo. he city’s newest cultural centre, MAAT was created to place Lisbon on the international contemporary art map. The museum consists of a newly opened building, designed by the architect Amanda Levete, and Tejo Power Station, a prominent example of 20th century industrial architecture. Located by the riverside, the futuristic organic structure is integrated into the landscape and exploits its natural setting. The roof, an open-air living room, allows the eyes to roam freely over the city and the river. A genuine creative hub, MAAT intertwines three areas - art, architecture and technology – within a space of debate, discovery and dialogue. Besides the temporary exhibitions, the programme presents various curatorial perspectives on the EDP Foundation’s Art Collection and provides an intense educational programme. Its mission is to reflect on major themes and current trends, developing knowledge with the contribution of artists, architects and contemporary thinkers.
