ho said that art and patronage is a thing of the past? Since 2008, Marquês has been home to a new concept in a string of initiatives by the Banco Espírito Santo. BES Arte & Finança stands in the heart of the financial district and allies an arts centre, housing the BES contemporary photo collection (one of Iberia’s most important, with 451 works by 176 artists) with financial services, a cybercafé, restaurant, travel agency and a bank. Hosting exhibitions and workshops on contemporary art and photography, plus jazz in July and dance in October, this new concept promises to become an eclectic meeting point for those with more than just a taste for art.
