Manuela
Casa de grande tradição, a Loja das Meias faz parte da família de Manuela Saldanha desde sempre. O seu bisavô, Pedro Rodrigues Costa, foi o fundador, que depois passou para o avô e a seguir para o seu pai, que levou a empresa para o edifício Castil nos anos 70. É aqui que são os escritórios desta casa que começou por vender meias e espartilhos e é hoje um marco onde se encontram os grandes nomes da moda internacional. “ É uma zona muito central e que tem cada vez mais prestígio, diz Manuela. “Trabalham muitas pessoas nas redondezas e passam também muitos estrangeiros.” Steeped in tradition, Loja das Meias has been in Manuela Saldanha’s family since the very beginning. Her great grandfather, Pedro Rodrigues Costa, was its founder, passing it on to her grandfather and then to her father, who moved the business into the Castil buiding in the 70s. The company began by selling stockings and corsets and today is a hallmark for the finest names in international fashion.“This area is very central and becoming more and more upmarket,” says Manuela.
Zambeze
Nasceu em Moçambique, cresceu no Brasil e depois veio para cá, por isso diz-se moçambo-braso-esa. E por isso adoptou o nome de Zambeze, como é conhecida por todos Maria José Almeida. Em 1996 inaugurou com os seus pais, António Júlio e Maria Amélia Santos Almeida, a Galeria Antiks Design. O seu dia-a-dia é a arte. Com uma alegria e uma energia contagiantes, diz que para ela “Lisboa mudou de nome, agora é Lisóptima!” Adora a cidade, “Estou aqui por opção”, diz, “podia estar em qualquer outro lugar do mundo!”. Born in Mozambique, she grew up in Brazil and then made the leap over here, and that’s why she calls herself Mozam-Brazil-uese. And that’s also why she adopted the name ‘Zambeze’, as Maria José Almeida is known to one and all. In 1996, with her father and mother, she opened Galeria Antiks Design. Art is her bread and butter. Infectiously cheerful and lively, she says that for her “Lisbon has changed: it should now be called Lismagnifique!” She loves the city. “I’m here because I want to be,” she says. “I could live anywhere I wanted!”.
Marta
Desde o ano 2000 que Marta Saraiva e Sousa é responsável pela dinamização do Tivoli Forum, principal pólo comercial da calçada mais cosmopolita da cidade. Marta criou uma relação especial com esta área, aprecia-lhe cada mudança e sente que nos últimos anos “a avenida ficou finalmente o que se pretendia, o centro das marcas de luxo”. À hora do almoço, desfruta de um dos restaurantes do Tivoli Forum ou vai até ao Luca. Tem também o hábito diário de descer e subir a avenida, a pé. “Acho esta avenida linda. É um privilégio trabalhar aqui”. Since 2000, Marta Saraiva e Sousa has been responsible for PR at Tivoli Forum, the home of the most cosmopolitan shopping sidewalk in the city. Marta has formed a special relationship with the area, appreciates every change and feels that in recent years “the avenue has finally become what it was meant to be: the centre of luxury goods in Lisbon”. At lunch, she eats at one of the restaurants in Tivoli Forum or goes to Luca.
