árias formas de Arte estiveram sempre presentes no Chiado: a Literatura na Brasileira dos intelectuais, a Arquitectura nos prédios seculares, a Pintura nos artistas das Belas-Artes... e na Rua Nova do Almada há Música e Poesia, na Companhia Nacional de Música (CNM). Preservar o património músical português é o seu objectivo, divulgando esta forma de manifestação artística de forma eficaz e apaixonada. Em 12 anos de existência, além da venda de discos e dvd, é uma das boas moradas para comprar partituras, sendo também o local onde os alunos do Conservatório Nacional compram os livros oficiais para os seus estudos. A actividade da CNM está centrada na Música Clássica e sobretudo na forma mais portuguesa de expressão musical... o Fado.•

rt in its various forms has always been a feature of Chiado: literature at the Café Brasileira of the intelligentsia, architecture in the centuries-old buildings, painting at the school of fine arts... and in Rua Nova do Almada music, combined with poetry at the Companhia Nacional de Música (CNM). Its aim is to preserve Portuguese musical heritage, divulging this form of artistic manifestation with success and passion. In its 12 years of existence, besides selling records and DVDs, it has become one of the best places to buy scores and is also where the students of the Conservatório Nacional buy their course books. CNM focuses on classical music but above all on that most Portuguese of musical expressions - Fado.•
O FA D O Português e de Lisboa, o Fado é uma das expressões de música popular urbana contemporânea nascidas do cruzamento das culturas europeias e africanas, das navegações atlânticas dos séculos XVII e XVIII. De Portugal o Fado tem como elementos fundamentais a língua, a sensibilidade e a rica tradição poética da literatura portuguesa com expressões ligadas à música remontando à Idade Média. 100% Portuguese and a Lisbonite by birth, fado is one of the expressions of contemporary urban folk music that sprang out of the interaction between European and African cultures during the Atlantic sea voyages of the 17th and 18th centuries. From Portugal, fado takes the fundamental elements of language, sensibility and the rich poetic tradition of Portuguese literature with expressions linked to music dating from the Middle Ages.
