SEBASTIÁN
Um sítio com o carisma do Café Buenos Aires só poderia ter por detrás uma personagem igualmente fascinante. Sebastián Filgueiras cresceu na Argentina, numa família com avós viajantes cheios de histórias para contar, foi em França que conheceu a mulher portuguesa e em Lisboa que se apaixonou pelo Chiado para não mais sair. Cativado pela época de ouro dos cafés e poetas, Sebastián criou um cenário cosmopolita e boémio, onde o Tango janta romanticamente com o Fado. E se pensa que nos serve só os famosos bifes, desengane-se, é a massa fresca que sugere para as noites quentes de Verão. A place with Café Buenos Aires’ charm has to have someone just as fascinating behind it. Sebastián Filgueiras grew up in Argentina in a family of globe-trotting grandparents. He met his Portuguese wife in France and in Lisbon fell in love with Chiado and decided to stay. Captivated by the golden age of cafés and poets, Sebastián has created a bohemian backdrop where tango and fado mix romantically. But don’t think there’s only steak on the menu: the fresh pasta is also recommended. MP
ANTÓNIO
Mal sabia o jovem António Cardoso quando trabalhava na Discoteca do Carmo, loja de discos variados, que iria passar a sua vida dentro da mítica Carrinha do Fado na Rua do Carmo. É ele a personagem que há 15 anos nos espreita por entre guitarradas e refrões que se assobiam pelo Chiado. O simpático António tornou-se no perfeito anfitrião de Lisboa, faz conversa com os turistas, já vendeu discos à Bjorn e ao Aznavour, gosta obviamente da Amália, acha a Marisa a Madonna do Fado e ouve em repeat a Ana Moura. Quando por lá passar diga “olá” ao António, peça uma música e fique a falar da vida. Little did the young António Cardoso imagine that one day he would be sitting inside the mythical ‘Fado waggon’ in Rua do Carmo. For the last 15 years, he’s been responsible for playing the tunes you can hear all the way up the street. And affable António is Lisbon’s perfect host, chatting to tourists and dealing with the rich and famous, like Bjorn and Aznavour. He’s a big fan of the fado greats, but also likes stuff by the newer singers. If you pass by, say “Hi”, request a song and have a chat. MP
BÁRBARA
Por detrás de um inovador museu há sempre alguém interessante e visionário, e Bárbara Coutinho é a responsável pelo projecto do MUDE - Museu do Design e da Moda. Formou-se em História da Arte Contemporânea e lecciona no I.S.T, mas é como directora deste museu que consegue contribuir para a requalificação da Baixa. É esta a zona que escolheu para viver. É aqui “neste movimento pendular entre o Chiado, a Baixa e o Castelo que sente a verdadeira cidade”, na luz, nas ruas que vão do rio ao Rossio, na História ainda vivida das lojas tradicionais. A zona de maior potencial turístico e criativo. O MUDE só podia estar aqui. Behind every innovative museum is a visionary. And at the Museum of Design and Fashion (MUDE) that person is Bárbara Coutinho. A graduate of Contemporary Art History, she teaches but it is as director of the museum that she is contributing to the regeneration of Baixa, the area where she also lives. It is here, “between Chiado, Baixa and Castelo that you feel the real Lisbon”, the light, the streets and the living history. This is where it all happens. And this is where MUDE has to be.
