Activity 1 ( estimated Time: 10-15 Minutes )

Activity 3 ( estimated Time: 5 Minutes )

• Students trickle in from registration. As they do, they gather up into groups of 4 or 5. In that group, they write a chant or song for Destiny Training. • At the end of 8 minutes, groups come up and perform their chant/song. The class votes by cheering at the end. The winning team wins a bag of candy to share and their chant becomes our class’ chant. Try to record this for future Destiny Training promo videos or videos to report to the church the success of the class.

• Psalm 23 is the biblical foundation for this module. In this first part of the class we are going to learn Psalm 23 with actions. • Split the class up into groups of 3 or 3 groups. • Challenge them to find creative ways to memorize Psalm 23. • Draw the class together to show the slide with the classes for each verse/lesson. • Distribute a calendar of dates for the classes. • In pairs discuss: “How I met Jesus.” • Share with one person your encounter with Jesus: - Mention one change in your life as a result. - Mention one time that he has answered your prayers.

Activity 2 ( estimated Time: 10 Minutes ) • Play the introduction video entitled: What is Destiny Training? • At this point students can also set the class expectations as a group with the teacher facilitating and recording. When adult students set the expectations that will govern them, they are often times more apt to comply. Our goals: What you will learn in this course. Teacher reiterates the aims and objectives for the training program.

MODULE 1

CLASS 1 JESUS IS MY SHEPHERD

conceive Aims and Objectives

Activity 1 ( estimated Time: 15 Minutes )

• Pass out their notebooks. Have them glue in the outline (agenda) of today’s class into their notebook and open up to where they will take notes on the lesson about to be taught.

• Teacher to creatively unpack the material below with the use of the enclosed slides.

to Jesus. When the disciples started sharing the gospel, persecution and confusion came. However, nothing was able to stop them. • Acts: Throughout the centuries thousands of people have not only lived for Jesus but also died for him. Why? Because there is none like Jesus. Once you really encounter him, nothing will ever be the same.

Who is Jesus, really? • Getting to know the real Jesus. When you want to get to know someone, at first you can hear a lot of different things about that person, but it’s important to find out the truth.

Born in the APPOINTED TIME. • Teacher will give out sheets of Biblical references that show how in Jesus, the prophecies were fulfilled. In his perfection, God appointed a perfect time for Christ to come.

Developing the theme:

• We have to find out and know the truth about who our Shepherd really is. • “The Lord is my Shepherd…” (Psalm 23:1) Jesus, a man beyond comparison. • Even though there have been great men and women throughout history, none compares

Interactive Activity: • Students look up 1 reference that they do not already know. • After 2 minutes of looking up and reading their scripture, students stand up, find someone with the same color shirt as them, and share their scripture. • Students return to their seats after 3 minutes of sharing. • Physical movement and verbal communication will re-engage the adult learner.

• Identify the characteristics that Jesus, the One true Pastor, had in His life. • To understand that Jesus is the Son of God and that He is the only One who can show us the correct way to live our lives consecrated to God. • To understand that salvation can only be accomplished by the Son of God. • Estimated time: 20-25 Minutes • Choose one or more of the following activities to fit into the allotted time.

Activity 2

( Estimated Time: 5-10 Minutes )

Jesus is God, and lived on Earth as a man. • Split class into four groups. Give them these four references: • He sat down to rest (John 4:6). • He looked for a place to sleep on the boat (Mark 4:38). • He cried out “I am thirsty” (John 19:28). • He was tempted by the enemy when He was hungry (Matthew 4:2). Have students reflect on Christ’s humanity. How was his life similar to ours?

WEEKLY CHALLENGE • How are the students going to put into action the themes of this lesson? The challenge should be clear and measurable. • Gather students back together and explain that they have now all had a personal revelation of Jesus as their Shepherd. However, the extent to which they grow and develop during this class will depend on what they put into practice during the week, not just what they learn. Consequently, there will be a challenge every week related to the class.

HOMEWORK

This week, there are 3 opportunities to respond Stand up to show what you are responding to: • The first opportunity to respond to a challenge is that if you have an infrequent devotional life and you want to commit to once again having a time of devotion every day, stand up. • The second opportunity to respond is if you have a consistent devotional life but you know it is dry/routine and you need to press in and awaken a spirit of devotion again, stand up. • The last opportunity to respond is if you have a dynamic and consistent devotional life, but it is focused on one aspect (all prayer, all Bible reading, etc) and you want to make it balanced, stand up. • Every student should be standing at this point, demonstrating that they accept one of those challenges. Ask the students to tell those next to them what their challenge is.
