CONTIKI HAS AN INSATIABLE APPETITE FOR DISCOVERING NEW THINGS IN EVERY NOOK & CRANNY OF THE WORLD. To continue sharing our discoveries with young travellers for decades & centuries to come, we need to respect & protect those places through everything that we do. CONTIKI CARES treadright foundation We’re founding partners of the TreadRight Foundation Contiki believes that we have a responsibility to create memorable travel experiences without putting tourism destinations at risk & there’s much more to that than just words on paper. TreadRight guides Contiki on all things sustainable – from helping us choose which global projects to support, to working with our operators, to supporting our very engaged global team & educating travellers on sustainable practices. While Contiki continues to strive to increase our sustainability efforts, we know there is much more we can do, and that’s where TreadRight comes in. To learn more about TreadRight, their projects & where they’ve donated more than US$2 million to date – plus for great tips on how to be a responsible traveller – visit www.treadright.org.
recycling Contiki, as part of The Travel Corporation, is proud to be using 100% recycled paper for the body of our brochures. Some of the positive impacts of this includes saving more than 48,000* trees per year & reducing landfill waste that produces harmful greenhouse gases. In addition, the paper used is rated “Excellent” by the World Wildlife Federation’s (WWF) environmental benchmarking tool. We are proud to commit to using one of the most environmentally friendly coated recycled papers on Planet Earth. *Calculations based on data from the Environmental Defense Network
loving it local We’re proud to support local businesses on our trips, whether it be via the activities we do, the places we eat or the accommodation in which we sleep. In Latin America, almost every one of the places we stay at are locally owned, so profits feed directly back to the local communities. Where other travel operators may own their own vehicles & run their own show independent of locals, wherever possible, Contiki work only with local suppliers & businesses. What you can do Taking care of the environment shouldn’t stop when you go travelling. Simple stuff like re-using your drink bottle, choosing products with less packaging, recycling on the go or simply turning off the lights when you leave your hotel room are all ways to lessen your environmental impact.
