Arriving at our campsite, we'll have plenty of opportunity over the next few days to hike this incredible landscape, hoping to spot bears, moose, caribou or wolves (while maintaining a safe distance!) You'll have the opportunity to fly over the National Park & around Mt Denali – the highest mountain peak in the USA - & in the evening we'll sit around

Then we'll head to the Maclaren River Lodge, where we'll meet our hospitable hosts Alan & Suzie. They know the local area better than anyone, & will take us on a boat ride up the glittering waters to the Glacier Camp. Save your Insta snaps for upload later, ‘cuz there's no phone reception here - just camping, exploring & hiking in the wilderness. The next day we'll take a canoe back down the river for another night at the beautiful lodge. We'll travel 60 miles of gravel road stretching along the old Copper River & Northwestern railways. Once dotted with copper mines, this was also the site of the great Alaskan Gold Rush. Feeling inspired? Here we have endless adventure opportunities - hiking, ice-climbing, glacier walks, guided mine tours, rating, scenic flights & more are yours for the choosing. After a disastrous oil spill in 1989, the
surrounding nature & wildlife have recovered in abundance & created a gorgeous landscape for us to explore. Today is packed with even more optional adventure activities - we recommend the Columbia Glacier Sea Kayaking for spectacular scenery & unique options to spot the local wildlife. This rugged city is a gateway to the nearby wilderness & national parks, & the people who live here share their wild landscape with families of wolves, moose & bears – it's safe to say this isn't a city like you've experienced before! We'll spend this evening settling in & trading tales with our Contiki crew over a dinner of local Alaskan fare. (D)   Â
