It’s nice to work with different people from around the world, to hear peoples’ points of view, and to see how traveling changes lives. Traveling makes you enjoy what you have. It forces you to stop, think and appreciate. My personal favorite stop on a Contiki trip is the Greek island of Mykonos – the beach, the hot sea, happy days and good vibes. What else do you need?”

THE CONTIKI CHEF Jay Edwards, from Newcastle, Australia is the Contiki chef at Château de Cruix “This is my third season at Contiki. Last summer I was at the Contiki Village in Rome, and last winter I was at our chalet in Hopfgarten, in the Austrian Alps. Now I’m here at the Château de Cruix in the Beaujolais wine region. It’s really important that we do French inspired, healthy, home-cooked food here. Tonight we’re doing home-made Coq au Vin, with fresh baguettes delivered from our local boulangerie and large sharing salads, followed by chocolate mousse with strawberries. We make everything from scratch, with fresh local ingredients, and we’ve got it down so that waste is at a minimum. Living here feels like traveling every day. You meet new groups and the vibe is just fun. You’re in this incredible old Château with a pool, listening to music – it’s doesn’t feel like work.”

Keira Richardson, from New Zealand, works as a housekeeper and in the bar and kitchen at the Château de Cruix “We’re a team of ten On-site staff here, looking after up to 160 travelers at a time. It’s definitely hard work, but so much fun. I got the job through interviewing in Sydney and then doing a 10-day training course here at the Château which was like a mad little degree in Contiki. The best part of the job is definitely meeting travelers from all across the world… and hearing all their crazy travel tales”
