VALUING OUR RELATIONSHIPS

CONTIKI LOVES THE PLANET

Responsible travel is as much about the communities we touch and friendships we make as it is about our actions and choices. At Contiki, we value the local people that help to make our trips so unique and feel privileged to have spent over 54 years contributing to the success of countless worthy individuals and businesses. Here are a few stories that really tickle us pink: château DE CRUIX, FRANCE

Since 1978, local Beaujolais winemaker Jean Claude has provided Contiki travelers with the use of his historic cavage, teaching them about the vintage masterpieces and giving them a taste of his coveted limited edition Beaujolais wine. It’s a must-do French experience that preserves tradition and keeps stories alive.

SIVA, GREECE

Contiki first began working with SIVA, our Greek partners, back in 1975 and since then the partnership has strengthened. Together we have developed our incredible Greek product into what it is today, including our popular sailing trips, which are some of our traveler faves. Led by our man on the ground Miltos, today SIVA operates all of Contiki’s Greek product, including our land tours, sailing, cruise and island hopping trips.

CAMPING JUNGFRAU, LAUTERBRUNNEN

Our stunning Lauterbrunnen campsite and cabin village was discovered by accident back in 1962. Leading a trip and having lost his way, Contiki’s founder John Anderson pitched his tent in a field one night only to be woken the next morning by a farmer wondering who was on his land. The farmer, Hans, allowed the group to stay and now – some 54 years later – the campsite that now sits on this spot is managed by Hans’ granddaughter Ruth and husband Hans.

Contiki is proud to be using 100% recycled LEIPA paper for the body of our brochures. It is just part of The Travel Corporation way, and another sign we really dig this planet of ours.

FORTISSIMO, ITALY

The relationship with Fortissimo, our Italian partners, began in 1968 when Contiki met a young Paulo Fortini. Opening his business in the 1990s as a result of the continued support of Contiki, Fortissimo continue to provide Contiki with on the ground support in Italy to this day, thanks to Niccolò and Lusia Fortini, Paulo’s children.
