Carnival bus HANWELL The big event in Ealing this weekend was the annual Hanwell Carnival on Saturday. The volunteer-run Carnival is believed to be the oldest such festival in London. Above: young W7 residents wave on the Red Routemaster Carnival bus as it leads the parade from the Hanwell Community Centre to the fairground at Elthorne Park. What are you working on next? I’ve been a Questors member since 2008, and give them credit for me returning to my professional acting career. I was recently one of the directors involved in their short play festival: Questival ll. The high standard of work there means I have met some very talented people – both onstage and offstage. I plan to continue mixing my professional work with work at Questors.

Opening our world Acton-based actor and voice coach Lucy Aley-Parker is ‘the woman behind the desk’ in the gone-viral momondo travel website’s ad-video “The DNA Journey”. In our Q&A she talks about getting involved in the video, and being busy at Questors Theatre. That “The DNA journey” video is all over the internet! It was great to spot you in there, delivering the theme of the advert that we are all more connected than we realise. How did you get involved in this momondo.com project? My agent sent me for a commercial casting that required an actor who understood DNA and had interviewing experience. Seeing I was an ex-nurse

The Ealinger

Is Ealing still a TV, stage and film creative hotspot in London? Are we making the most of it? What do you think? Ealing has an amazing creative legacy that includes Ealing Studios and Questors. There are writing groups, art groups, dance groups and youth theatre (including QYT), comedy and performance hubs as well as the annual Ealing Festival. It’s sad that the Ealing Festival has been trimmed this year – music and the arts brings a community together and its power to do this should never be underestimated or devalued!

and health journalist, the casting director called me in. I was then re-called by the Danish director of the project who did an improvised interview over Skype from Copenhagen! (momondo.com is based in the Denmark capital.) A week later I was flying to Copenhagen for four days of amazing filming. Back home in Ealing, you’re always very busy at Questors Theatre in Ealing Broadway.
