The works are primarily aimed at implementing the physical modifications required to facilitate the replacement of the existing MRI Scanner, the relocation of existing engineering services and plant to facilitate installation and future development of the MRI unit. Due to the specialist MRI requirements the design team must be capable of providing design services in relation to the provision of MRI compliant cabins, RF cabins, RF testing, control room, technical room, MR quenching, liaison with specialist suppliers, liaison with independent Clinical Scientist. The works will be carried out in a live, acute hospital environment. The MRI Department is one of the busiest departments in the hospital and the works must be designed and phased in such a way as to cause the minimum amount of disruption to the service. It is anticipated that complex mechanical and electrical services, including medical gases, will be required as part of the works and the team should have adequate experience of same. The works are to be completed and handed over by 28th February 2015. to facilitate installation and future development of the MRI unit. Due to the specialist MRI requirements the design team must be capable of providing design services in relation to the provision of MRI compliant cabins, RF cabins, RF testing, control room, technical room, MR quenching, liaison with specialist suppliers, liaison with independent Clinical Scientist. The works will be carried out in a live, acute hospital environment. The MRI Department is one of the busiest departments in the hospital and the works must be designed and phased in such a way as to cause the minimum amount of disruption to the service. It is anticipated that complex mechanical and electrical services, including medical gases, will be required as part of the works and the team should have adequate experience of same. The works are to be completed and handed over by 28th February 2015. The NHSCT confirm that the following consultants will be required to form part of the design team: Lead Consultant, Architect, Quantity Surveyor, Mechanical Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Civil & Structural Engineer and CDM coordinator. Schedules of duties for these consultants will be included in ITT. The lead consultant (contract administrator) will be the architect. The contract period (for consultant services) is 8 months, August 2014 – March 2015, not including the defects liability period.
