Preliminary Concept Design
The poster is designed for the promotion of Hong Kong Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (巴西柔術) Championship which would be held in 10 June 2017. Fist Bump - the handshake is the hallmark of the BJJ movement competition. Before the game started, two players would do the handshake which mean “ We are ready to begin. ” The four colors - white , blue , purple , brown which representing the level of praticing BJJ. The chinese brush and splash pattern expressed the strong , wild and powerful performance of BJJ competition. The mix and match would be visually and literally satisfied fit the theme.
Modified Design
The attempts of difference among of same type of theme , high contrast between the background and typograpghy. In the first image , the words trying to pop out from the background has giving a visually impact. To simplify the elements which appear on the poster maybe cause less aesthesis of intensive tension of competition. Using triangle shape to catch the audience s ’ eye also it could lead to the name of competiton . Obvious contrast of geometric and organic form.
Second Concept Design
Golden-orange background and grunge texture also endow the bright and soild sensationto the theme. The athletes would perform their best skills on the stage like stars shining in the sky , which expressing their braveness , perverseness , passion and humbleness.
Final Artwork
Each contestant could be a super star in the competition. They can express themselves to the public in a skillful way. Whatever you are the winner or loser , you had shown the best of you on the stage. The hand writing font separate from the background and be the most eye catching part. Encourage the BJJ player join the competition.
