Baccalaureate services will be at 6 p.m. today at First Baptist Church of Ashland. The Rev. Ross Kilpatrick will speak. Valedictorian is Chasity LaShae Burney. She is the daughter of Breeches Rowell of Goodwater and Chris Burney of Lineville and the granddaughter of the late Hattie Mae Simmons and Joe Lewis Simmons of Goodwater, Linda Burney of Ohio and David and Lela Burney of Lineville. Burney was Senior Class President, Senior Beta Club President, Danceline Captain, Junior Homecoming Maid, was chosen “Most Likely to Succeed,” was a member of the Student Government Association, burney Students Against Destructive Decisions and Math Team. She plans to attend Auburn University on a Board of Trustees Scholarship, Auburn Football Lettermen Club Scholarship and PLUS Scholarship and pursue a degree in psychology. Salutatorian is Abby brasell Elizabeth Brasell. She is the daughter of Lynn and Gail Brasell of Goodwater and the granddaughter of Orene and Wesley Hammonds of Goodwater and the late Mary Alice and James Brasell of Dadeville. Brasell was State Senior Beta Club President, a member of the Auburn Honors Band, Broyhill wilcox Leadership Conference, Auburn Leadership Conference, Math Team, Scholar’s Bowl, Danceline and FFA. She plans to attend the University of North Alabama on an Academic and Honors Scholarship to pursue a degree in Political Science. Historian is Blakesley Julianna Wilcox. She is the daughter of Jerry and Stacy Cash of Heflin and the granddaughter of Jerry and Hilda Key of Delta, Jerry Cash of Columbiana and Nora Ford of Lincoln.
