Ronroco
“El ronroco es parte de los instrumentos de la zona norte andina del continente. Es de la familia del charango, aunque de mayor tamaño y de sonido más grave. Fue creado por un grupo de músicos bolivianos ante la necesidad de algo intermedio entre un charango y una guitarra. Tiene un sonido muy delicado, que lamentablemente se ha ido perdiendo. Propuse un diseño algo distinto, para hacerlo más fácil de tomar. Como soy luthier, me preocupo de que sea de calidad, no algo decorativo, que esté al nivel de una buena guitarra clásica, de un buen violín. El Sello de Excelencia me ha ayudado un montón para dar a conocer mi trabajo y me ha servido para postular a otras cosas, como un Fondart que me gané recientemente para fabricar un guitarrón chileno”. The roncoco is one of the instruments of the northern Andean part of the continent. It belongs to the charango family, although it is larger than a charango and has a deeper bass sound. It was created by a group of Bolivian musicians owing to the need of an intermediate instrument between guitar and charango .It has a very delicate sound which we are unfortunately losing. I proposed a somewhat different design to make it easier to hold. As I am a luthier I am concerned with quality and not with decorative value the instrument should be similar to a good classical guitar or violin. The Seal of Excellence has been extremely helpful for making my work known and has enabled me to apply for other things like a recent Fondart award in which I will produce a traditional Chilean “guitarrón”.
