ell, it’s been quite a busy year. From 50 beautiful women competing in all the heats, the Conscious Vibes team were thrilled to be able to announce that on Sunday 24th July 2016, Bashiyra (Singer/Songwriter & Vocal Coach from London) an artist in her own right, has not only ‘The Voice’
Unlike any other crown, the Africaninspired crown of cowry shells designed by Yvonne Allen of Zayunu Designs gave Bashiyra the look of a true empress. Vanessa Morgan (Building Surveyor, from Birmingham) up and Oshauna Peters (Childminder and Freelance Model, from London) second runner up.

MS NATURAL HAIR UK
As winner of Ms Natural Hair UK, Bashiyra will have a busy year ahead. Bashiyra has won a list of prizes which includes a modelling contract with Frame Perfect; receives a one-year subscription to Black Beauty & Hair magazine; will have a Natural Hair greeting card of her image created by Nefateri Asantewa; will grace the cover of Conscious Vibes magazine; undergo a biochemical assessment by Empress Devine and a photo shoot by BQuavs. Bashiyra’s hair on the day was styled by one of our sponsors Jay Adegunle from Locs 4 Life. Bashiyra holds 19 music award distinctions. She is a health conscious advocate for natural Photographer: Diane Zinche levity and its way of being in all aspects from her hair, skin, mind, body spirit and soul. She stated:
I am so honored and very much in the "glow" of winning. My crowning experience has been phenomenal and whilst I'm joyfully overwhelmed and absorbing it all, I've also woken up each morning since, expressing a deeper sense of gratitude for self and being. I'm ready to serve my global community with tenacity, grace and wisdom and to lovingly demonstrate across the world just why

The aim of the pageant is to generate positive dialogues and images for both young and mature people in the UK whist elevating the beauty of natural hair. All contestants showed their elegance as they sashayed on stage showing their garments (of which at least one was of African design) and addressed the audience in response to interview questions, relating to their personal views or experiences on natural hair and lifestyle.

We would also like to thank the Jus U team for working behind the scene assisting the ladies with their hair on the day, and Itricia (a Self-Expressionist), who delivered a self-expression, before rehearsals began.

The event proved spectacular in every way, there were stallholders selling some natural African/Caribbean products. The Conscious vibes team ensured the early attendees were served canapĂŠs and drinks whilst being treated to beautiful vocals from Della.
MS NATURAL HAIR UK lished to inspire people to discover and embrace their true self treated the audience to the beautiful jazz voice of Lydia and a spoken word artist Erica. You could hear a pin drop as they took to the stage.

Judith Jacobs and Livingston Gilchrist kept us all entertained throughout with their hosting skills. The crowning of all three ladies was carried out by Dawn Butler, MP for Brent Central, who gave a brilliant recital of Maya Angelou’s “Still I Rise’ as part of her crowning speech. I have to say, I am in awe of this lady. She has done so much for our community. It was due to this amazing woman that we were able to launch this pageant in the House of Commons almost 10 months ago. I remember sitting with my (director) colleagues along with the founder of Conscious Vibes, (Angela Small) discussing the possibility of
