Catch Your Dinner in Charleston By Colette Kimball

A bounty of fresh seafood is available through-

out the year off Oregon’s coast. If you’re headed to Charleston this fall and want to try catching your own dinner, here’s a few suggestions: • Salmon fishing happens throughout the summer. By August and September the salmon will be running in the bay. • Tuna will also be available through August and September. You can charter a boat or buy tuna off the dock.

• Crabbing picks up in September and October. You can crab off the docks, in the bay, or out in the ocean. • Bay clamming happens year-round in Charleston. • Rock fishing is always good, weather permitting. Thanks to Rob Gensorek, owner of Basin Tackle in Charleston for keeping us updated.
