www.OregonCommunityConnection.com distributed heavily within this area, lightly east of it, AND online.)

[As of September we have been delivering to an additional 100+ Good Sam locations, throughout Oregon. That distribution uses approx. 1,000 copies, the demand is likely to increase-this magazine, in its full form, is available online and I am now pursuing additional media to promote it. It will take a few of cycles to have publishable numbers.] This magazine, free to the readers, provides a wholesome format for readers and advertisers. People won't be embarrassed when someone sees this magazine on their coffee table.

Print Distribution

We circulate 10-12,000 copies to a variety of business types—restaurants, banks, doctor’s offices, hospitals, veterinary offices, libraries, grocery stores, barbershops, boutiques’, beauty shops, automotive shops, tire shops, hospitals, our advertisers, etc.—along the main streets of the rural towns. We drop 10-200 copies (the quantity dropped is based on the reader traffic).

Toledo, Waldport, Yachats; Linn County—Brownsville, Halsey, Harrisburg, Lebanon, and Sweet Home.

For this study, the cities are: Coos County— Coos Bay, Lakeside, North Bend; Douglas County—Drain, Elkton, Reedsport; Lane County—Creswell, Coburg,, Cottage Grove, Florence, Junction City, Oakridge, Veneta; Lincoln County—Depot Bay, Lincoln City, Newport,

The census given ‘households’, used by this Publisher, is a definitive number. Whereas ‘readers’, used by many publishers, is a subjective number. Claims of 2-5 readers per magazine are not uncommon. For this reason, our numbers are conservative.

SUMMARY

For this study, we placed 8,500 copies in the Willamette Valley and 3,500 copies on the coast. • In the valley we saturate Junction City, Harrisburg, Monroe, Coburg, Veneta, Elmira, Creswell, Cottage Grove and Oakridge—where there are 12,788 households. This was our initial 'target'. In this area we deliver approximately 6,000 copies. (6,000/12,788=46.9%) Factoring in tourists and returns, we are safe in saying that we have more than 25% saturation. • We take 2,500 copies and ‘plant’ them in the other valley communities such as Sweet Home, Pleasant Hill, Jefferson and others. • On the coast we leave 3,500 copies in the towns from Bandon to Astoria, with a primary emphasis from Charleston to Lincoln City.

Overall (when printing 11,000)

We have a 97% acceptance of our magazines (300 returns/11,000 gross). We have a 30% acceptance in our mapped area if we take 10,700 magazines, minus 1,500 for tourists = 9,200; then we divide by the gross number of 'in city' households, 32,851 (9,200/32,851) = 28% We will likely be printing 12,000 this Summer (Jun/Jul/Aug) for local & tourist demand.

Long Shelf Life

Readers take our magazine for business stories and its rural QUARTERLY event schedules. They keep it on their coffee table, often for an entire 90 days. Some readers even collect each edition. Obviously, the longer a publication stays in the home, the greater the benefit to the advertiser. Few magazines offer this value. Any ad placed in our magazine will have opportunity to be viewed repeatedly (multiple exposures) without any additional cost to the advertiser.

Bottom Line

The first objective of this magazine is to have communities

recognize and utilize the commerce within their community. The second objective is to have people from outside the community visit, and enjoy leaving a few dollars. The third objective is to show business services that may not be available in their community. The result of distributing this magazine has caused communities to have a greater awareness of themselves and that they don't have to be isolated, but can grow and share their assets.

My experience in business is carpentry, manufacturing, publishing, graphic arts, sales, etc. I am committed to helping local businesses and communities achieve success."
