ELECTRONIC DEVICE POLICY

PARENT/STUDENT HANDBOOK

School Culture:

If a student has a significant negative influence on other students, the Head of School has the right to seek to expel the student, apart from the process of office visits. ● Examples of such behavior would include, but not be limited to: student romances, disobedience to parents, love of worldliness, a surly attitude, and any other ongoing attitudes reflecting a clear disregard of scriptural standards. ● If the Head of School exercises this option, they will meet with the parents and Education Council who will make the final decision. The parents will then have the option to withdraw their student to prevent expulsion.

Re-enrollment:

At the discretion of the Head of School, in consultation with the Education Council, a student may be refused re-enrollment. Such refusal to re-enroll is not considered a direct disciplinary act, requiring accumulated office visits in order to be taken. Refusal to re-enroll is not the equivalent of suspension or expulsion.

Re-admittance:

Should a student who was expelled, or who withdrew to prevent expulsion, desire to be readmitted to The Terra Nova School at a later date, the Education Council, in consultation with the Head of School, will make a decision based on the student's attitude and circumstances.

ELECTRONIC DEVICE POLICY

Use of personal electronic devices (i.e., phones, smart phones, portable gaming devices, etc.) by students is prohibited on campus during school hours. Such devices may be put on silent or turned off and left in bags or backpacks while a student is at school or on campus.

Use of laptops, computers, or tablets for research or writing (and other staff approved purposes) is allowed with staff supervision and direction.

Violation of this policy will result in immediate confiscation of the device, to be released to a parent or guardian.

The Terra Nova School accepts no responsibility for use, breakage, theft, or loss of phone or other personal items.
