It may look exactly like the ’67 Mustang from the film Gone In 60 Seconds, but under the skin this is actually a Ford Sierra with a Rover V8 engne. Adam Wilkins finds out if the fake Ford has what it takes to live up to its muscle car appearance.
and Trevor Lewis hadn’t built their first Mustang replica. Andy owned a genuine ’67 Mustang which he and Trevor had modified to look like ‘Eleanor’ from the film Gone In 60 Seconds and were planning to take moulds from it to offer a body conversion kit for the Ford Granada (which was subsequently changed to a Sierra donor). When Nabbi visited, they explained that they
had a potential customer for their Ford RS200 replica (which uses a Subaru Impreza floorpan) and whoever brought their donor car and a wad of cash to the factory soonest would be first in the queue to get their car built. Nabbi didn’t hang around, and knew just what he wanted: “The Sapphire 2000E comes with air conditioning and leather seats, so that’s what I was after.” At short notice, the nearest JANUARY 2008
one he found was in Southampton, so he hastilly collected it to his Yorkshire home. The air con doesn’t work, though, and the leather was grey (rather than the preferred black), so it was a wasted day trip, but he did get his donor to the Preston workshop first. Result! When you buy a Mustang replica from Mill (or an RS200 replica for that matter), the company won’t let you chop up your donor car
