By Gus Bookout It started out in horse racing, at the bottom, as a stall mucker, but the aim was to ride races. “I was one of the lucky ones and got to fulfill that dream, and it was amazing!” says Scottie Johnson, owner of Cross Country Ranch located in Culver, Oregon. She was privileged to ride with the likes of Julie Krone, Scott Steav-

ens, Donna Barton, Bill Shoemaker, and some other greats. Injuries eventually forced her down a different path, which included training racehorses and a 12-year town job at FedEx. She finally found her passion for equine breeding and is secretly a lab rat at heart. The fascination of Assisted Reproduction drew her from Thoroughbreds to Quarter Hors-

es, and that is why she acquired Judge Cash. “How was I so blessed to be picked to care for him? I have no idea… but the rest is history.” Over the years, we have worked hard to build a reputation for providing excellent customer service and want you to know we’ll do our best for you. Our conception rates are high for both on-farm and shipped semen. We have a file of compliments from vets that take the time to tell us how impressed they are with their shipments that they receive. If you’ve ever had a bad experience with shipped semen, then I suggest you give us a try, and we may change that. “I want to thank all of you that have supported Cross Country Ranch over the years. Without our loyal clients (many that have become good friends), we wouldn’t have survived. You have seen us grow into a thriving ranch, and I know some of you share the same sense of pride that we do.”

CLASSIFIEDS

2017 Sorrel Gelding Judge Cash x Streakin Violet [Streakin La Jolla (Streakin Six) x First Down Chenille (First Down Dash)] A sorrel with the rabicano gene complete with a coon tail. He’s a very graceful athlete that has a willing attitude. He will be a good sized colt, maybe about 15.3. Dynamite female famile. $12,500

2018 Gray Stud Colt by Judge Cash out of PC Sunkita Boon x

Sun Frost x Docs Oak Sugar-He was born bay and is turning gray. I see this horse as not only a barrel horse but as a rope horse prospect as well. He looks a little more cowy than the others as he’s nice and compact. Guessing he will mature around 15 hands. He’s very cute, with a sweet looking face. $13,500

2017 Gray Gelding-PC Judge Joe Te- Judge Cash x PC Joe Te Frost x Sun Frost. This gelding is a dark gray with size and the bone to go with it. He’s very handy, is kind, and looks loaded with talent. $14,000

should really be something. I think he could have good ability to sire as well. $14,500.

2018 Filly by Judge Cash x Wapnitia Cheng x Beda Cheng x Sir CashanovaThis filly was born red but is turning gray. She’s a good looking athletic filly with that floaty Judge stride. Probably will be around 15.0. $15,000

2018 gelding by Guys Pocket Coin x Judges Pistol Annie x

Judge Cash-This bay colt should have all around ability as he is built with such balance and has good bone. He’s eager to please and is waiting for a job. His dam Judges Pistol Annie has a couple full siblings that did well including Judges Signature owned by Katie Klem and Easy Judge It owned by Vickie Westwood. Both those horses are solid 1D horses and can run with the best of them! This strong dam line on Pockets

creates a horse that should be very versatile. $6500

2018 stud colt by Judge Cash x PC Sophia Frost x Sun Frost x Docs Oak Sugar x Sun Frost- Man is this a special colt. While he will make a nice

gelding, I definitely think he could be king of a nice broodmare herd, or even have the potential to be a commercial stallion if he proves himself out. He has two older full siblings the oldest just hitting the barrel pen with Bekkie Bowerman. That gelding we called Hank and is one of the smartest colts we’ve ever seen, and a personality as big as it gets. He is already a futurity winner and looks like the real deal. There is also

a full sister that is about as pretty as you’ll find and is big, and beautiful. She is in the right hands as well to get a chance at proving herself. So, this 2018 colt is the colt you are looking for if you want an amazing stud prospect. He is a dark palomino, turning gray. He has one blue eye as well. He’s built to the hilt with some size, and is the one that catches everyone’s eye. He should be easy to promote. $20,000
