It is my pleasure, on behalf of the citizens of Allen, to welcome you to our community. Allen is a unique mix of small-town atmosphere and big-city amenities. You can begin to experience this in our award-winning park system at facilities such as the Don Rodenbaugh Natatorium, Joe Farmer Recreation Center, and the play and spray ground area at Celebration Park. Among the list of new facilities, The Edge @ Allen Station Park features the largest outdoor skate park in Texas, along with a BMX course and two in-line hockey rinks. The Allen Public Library features unique areas for children, teens, and adults, as well as an auditorium for cultural programs. Serving all generations, we recently celebrated the grand opening of the Allen Senior Recreation Center, which includes a fitness room, game room, a variety of classrooms, a multi-purpose room, and a commercial kitchen. As we plan for the future Allen also strives to preserve its history through a historic village that is taking shape in the City’s Central Business District. The village started with the Allen Heritage Center (a replica of Allen’s original train depot) and is home to several historically significant buildings dating back to the 1880s. One of the things that makes our community strong is the involvement of our citizens. It was Allen residents who saw the need and created Allen Community Outreach, Allen Philharmonic Symphony, and Allen Foundation for Schools. Together, Allen citizens are volunteering their time, energy, enthusiasm, knowledge, and experiences in helping our community achieve excellence. The City has an aggressive economic development program designed to provide additional employment opportunities and an increased tax base for the community. Major thoroughfare planning and construction complement economic development and provide accessibility to our city. Our community offers a “recognized� rated school district and many churches and civic organizations that combine to make Allen a community of which we are all proud to be a part.
