COMMUNITY FOUNDATION Services Brochure
ABOUT COMMUNITY FOUNDATION Our Mission Our mission is to improve the quality of life of marginalised and hard to reach communities living in areas of multiple deprivations, by supporting them to help themselves. The concept of helping others to help themselves is far from new. It was exemplified in ancient times in the Chinese proverb: “Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish and he will eat for a lifetime.” Ancient it may be, but it is as true today as ever. Paramount to our approach is to address the barriers to good quality of life- worklessness, social exclusion, ill health, and educational underachievement. Our Work Streams
To encourage civic participation of marginalised and hard to reach communities & provide education and training to build capacity of individuals and organisations to improve themselves, their organisation and their community. To develop projects and services to address underlining issues of social exclusion, homelessness, health inequality, unemployment and under achievement. To develop targeted provisions to improve community safety, prevent anti social behaviour, domestic violence, and drug/alcohol abuse and improve community cohesion and tolerance within marginalised and hard to reach communities. To provide a range of social, education and recreational services for hard to reach communities.
Our Values
The Community Foundation staff and management are united by a common set of values. Community Outreach: To engage with communities. Not to work in isolation. They practice their problem-solving abilities, share knowledge, and give time and resources to make concrete positive contributions to the communities. Empowerment: They choose to empower. Instead of simply providing resources, their work focuses on developing individuals. The capacity and confidence they need to change their own situations and assist their communities. Cooperation & Partnership: Community Foundation values the opportunity to work together on common goals and toward a common purpose. They recognise and value the strengths and expertise of others and seek to work with them to improve outcomes for all in the community. Achievement: They value and recognise when people accomplish something they have set out to do through their skills, practice, perseverance or exertion. They also value completing what they set out to do, adding value to and making a tangible difference to the community and work. Creativity: Community Foundation values dreaming of what’s possible! They value and look for innovative and different ways to do work more effectively. They value imagination, experimentation, and fun in serving the community.
