Background

What have we done so far to help prevent suicide? Gippsland Primary Health Network (GPHN) is working on the PlaceBased Suicide Prevention Trials (PBSPT) project, coordinating local suicide prevention activities in the Bass Coast / South Gippsland area and Latrobe Valley.

A place-based approach?

Since 2016, we have been working with local organisations to deliver projects and activities, using a place-based approach. A place-based approach recognises that the places where people live and spend their time can affect their health and wellbeing.

COMMUNITY SUICIDE PREVENTION ACTION PLANNING RESOURCE FOR GIPPSLAND

What is the aim of the PBSPT project? The aim of the PBSPT is to build a community safety net where people work together to prevent suicide and support people in crisis. The PBSPT project is finishing in June 2022, so a shared, community-led action plan has been developed to continue the suicide prevention activities across Gippsland. This work will be led by and for the community: “nothing about us without us”. Together, we aim to build a community safety net that helps prevent suicide.
