The Strawberry Lady

The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for he founded it on the seas and established it on the waters. Psalm 24:1-2

After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. John 17:1-2

REFLECTION: Jesus’ reign on earth to glorify God is about to change. He has been physically present, demonstrating God’s love through the many miracles he has been performing. John 3:2 “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with him.” Within a few days God’s love is going to be expressed in the future by another means. Jesus prays that when people hear God’s Word they will be empowered by the Holy Spirit. Jesus’ time on earth is about to end so He wants to prepare the disciples for his departure. Jesus does this by asking His Father to take care of the disciples. In a few days Jesus will die on the Cross. He will be raised from the dead on Easter morning and 40 days later He will be taken up to heaven. Jesus knows that His followers will need strength, faith, and courage to face these events. That is why we find him in prayer.

PRAYER TIME: Heavenly Father, once again I come before you with thanks for the gift of your Son, who grants me eternal life. Help me to share your gift to me with others. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

When people listen, God speaks. When people obey, God acts. When God acts, people are changed. Need a Bible? Stop by our Little Library, located in front of our building. We have complimentary Bibles and other Christian literature available.
