THE CAM ACADEMY TRUST The Cam Academy Trust is a new name for our Trust from the summer of 2016. It reflects the fact that we are now a strong, locally-based Trust of Academies with representation from the different school phases. This is also how we intend to develop in the future: staying local with strong representation at both secondary and primary school level as well as strong provision for those with special educational needs. The Trust was named ‘The Comberton Academy Trust’ as it formed originally to enable the consistently Ofsted ‘outstanding’ Comberton Village College to move to Academy status. Further developments saw The Voyager Academy, Peterborough being sponsored and then Melbourn Village College joining the Trust. The Trust opened its first Free School, Cambourne Village College, in 2013 that was also rapidly graded as ‘outstanding’. Most recently, Gamlingay First School joined the Trust. It was the first Primary phase school to come into our Trust. St Peter’s School, Huntingdon, is expected to join the Trust in September 2016. Further Primary Schools joining our Trust will be overseen by our new Primary Executive Leader. This locally based model of education will stay true to its roots: seeking excellence for all and with our schools at the heart of their communities.
