Thanks a lot for this initiative.

Very simple, ready to work and looking forward to hearing from you

Yes, physical application of sustainable development & goals in Architecture design discipline

We conduct a lot of research regarding coastal challenges. This could be one of the critical areas where the Commonwealth can support and we can work closely.

We take the view that faculty and student mobility and exchange is beneficial, and would like to support efforts to build frameworks that facilitate this. Thanks for this initiative!

CAA could support a mapping and eventual harmonization of curricula in Architecture schools across the commonwealth, or at least in the region.

CAA could incentivize schools engaging in community based processes

CAA could initiate the idea of a global studio - where by each student has an opportunity to participate for some amount of credits points.

CAA could consider mapping special postgraduate programs in Architecture schools and placing them intentionally to build capacities of schools, e.g. in EAC, each architecture school could identify one unique MSc programme that attracts students from across the region.

Financial constraints in architectural schools especially in public sector universities are a huge hurdle at several ends. Limited resources restrict the stakeholders to function in an appropriate manner which is the need of the hour. This equally applies to the training opportunities, holding workshops, conferences, seminars, research works, and any kind of collaborations that are intended.

Developing systems that connects policy and its implementation with academic research and its outcomes

Strong areas of all the member schools may be identified and worked upon. the sharing of knowledge multiplies the benefits for the community and institutional development.

Working with the indigenous communities, which have been disconnected to some extent from rest of the developed areas, due to factors like economy or access can be good case studies of the architectural changes associated with climate change and the models can then be applied to the larger world.

We are seeking international partners for exchange programs for students and faculty. We have a few people who are interested in doing PhD abroad so they want to connect with potential supervisors. We also want our faculty to engage in collaborative research projects.

Environment, lot off fruit tree cutting to make new housing.

Need Faculty and student exchange programs

Governance of built environment.

we are residing in third world country, lacking advance pedagogical techniques in architectural curriculum. So, faculty development program needed.

The rural settlements in Pakistan are comprehensively deprived of physical planning , zoning , disaster risk reduction , infrastructural standardization , provision of services , technical and higher education and many other liabilities. As foremost recommendation , a four years Bachelors Program must be initiated on Rural Architecture & Planning under Higher Education Commission of Pakistan at varsities. This will also project direct employment of qualified architects in the relevant slots and positions.

Faculty and student interaction among international architectural schools.

Trade facilitation among member states

Well, as the program set in the coldest city of all the CAA programs, we may be an outlier but study here is a fast lesson in energy and thermal comfort.

It seems like the role of architects in many CAA cultures is continuing to diminish so empowering architects to speak truth to power in practice and urban development is a critical issue.

This initiative "Building a coalition of architectural faculties across the Commonwealth" is very well defined nothing I can add but I can suggest that we can also start "joint design studios" across different common interest architecture schools. The joint design studios across different common interest architectural schools can provide an excellent opportunity for students to work together and gain a deeper understanding of different cultural perspectives on architecture. Collaborative design studios can also help students to develop important skills such as teamwork, communication, and cross-cultural understanding, which are increasingly important in today's globalized world.

Furthermore, joint design studios can provide opportunities for students to explore complex design challenges that require multidisciplinary and cross-cultural perspectives. By bringing together students from different backgrounds and disciplines, joint design studios can foster innovative and creative approaches to design that are informed by diverse perspectives.

In addition, joint design studios can also provide opportunities for faculty members to collaborate on research projects and develop new approaches to architectural education and practice. By working together on joint design studios, faculty members can learn from one another and gain new insights into different pedagogical approaches and design methodologies.

Overall, joint design studios across different common interest architectural schools can provide a powerful platform for collaboration and learning, and can help to prepare students for the complex and dynamic

is a definite need to interrogate what architectural education means in the 21st century (beyond core competencies), with a revisit of the role of the architect, preparing students for a broader range of career paths, as well as pedagogical practices and the role of the profession in the training of future architects in candidacy and internship years.

Recognition of Graduate Architect/ Professional Architects amongst the Countries that are members of the CAA.

Can the Commonwealth enable performance via an Open Source digital portal of Climate literacy tools e.g. climatic modeling and analysis software, and the implementation of mechanisms for Staff and Student exchanges across architectural faculties of the Commonwealth ?

It would be great to create equitable mechanisms for knowledge exchange (regenerative, not extractive or colonial)

Preservation

A focus on user issues to create appropriate people places

Accreditation requirements and shifts in political and social agendas are focusing on inclusive design approaches and outcomes with emphasis on Indigenous cultures and knowledges.

We are constantly updating our curriculum, and also responding to changing requirements of the ARB and RIBA. Adding additional criteria is not helpful given the overloaded curriculum, so I would advise the Commonwealth architectural facilities to start with the recently published competences and learnign criteria and look to see if there are any obvious gaps, rather than trying to reinvent the wheel.

Financial constraints and changing validation process reduce our outputs, outreach and access to resources.

Present valuation system prepare the students to become part of the global market, leaving very few to

Can we have a compendium of Schools in the CAA and areas they are willing to collaborate in? Can we also have a concise programme for CAA accreditation? Can CAA organise and sponsor rotational joint conferences for schools?

Artificial intelligence and its usage in architecture

Social and humanistic aspects of architectural education

Continuous development of curriculum, student participation in live projects, research, work with profession, student participation in international programs, training.

Being a federal institution our school has been under severe financial difficulties. Unavailability of resources has effected the growth and training of faculty and students. Facilitation in 6-12 months of trainings/research activities abroad would be of great help

Environmental and Behavioral architecture

Support in Validation, access to funds and grants to support Global South Architectural Departments, more collaboration and exchanges among Commonwealth schools of Architecture

The Department of Architecture in Sierra Leone came into existence on 19 September 2019. We have 150 students and 9 students in the final year of the 4 Year B.Sc Architecture. The training will continue up to 2 Year M. Sc Architecture. Our objective is to start the Accreditation with CAA as soon as possible. Any help in this process of Accreditation will helpful and appreciated.

Design is a painful process how to inspire students to do the hard work

Children and senior citizen friendly building and urban design

There needs to be work across the the commonwealth on issues regarding culture and architecture, from decolonising the curriculum, through the questioning of current methodologies, to issues of local traditions and the march of modernity, as well as the culture of heritage and the need to develop existing fabric rather than engage automatically in wholesale demolition.

Visualising the role of Architects in reformulation of contemporary urban environments

There should be some online course facilities for teachers like access to COURSERA and EDX and LinkedIn Learning

We should develop collaborative research activities (including funded PhD opportunities for Architects from Commonwealth) between UK and commonwealth countries to develop more applied knowledge across the Commonwealth.

More engagements, follow ups and visitation to schools of Architecture other than for validation purposes. This can help promote continuity and sensitization on importance and benefits of accreditation by CAA

Research on broadening architecture as a practice.
