McConnell Arts Center The following programs, classes and events are offered by the Peggy R. Free. Nearly 100 pieces of art in a variety of media will be on view. • “Artbridge at the Mac” will be on view March 17 through May 8. This is a curated exhibit of artists with different abilities. The Art Bridge Studio is a division of United Cerebral Palsy of Central Ohio. • The MAC writers group meets every other Friday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The next meeting is March 11. The group is led by David Bell. Members read, share and offer feedback. Free. • A free writing workshop will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 13. No registration required. Topics include Revisiting Story Structure, Writing Books for Children, Characters and 30 Steps to Being
a Better Writer. The instructors will be Joan Trojanowski, Peg Hanna, Saundra Crum Akers and David Bell. • The center will preview “One Leg at a Time,” an anti-bullying film by students at Worthington Kilbourne High School, at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 13. Suggested donation is $2. • Sketch by Number, a comedy troupe of OSU grads, will take the stage at 8 p.m. Thursday, March 17. Tickets are $8 online or $10 at the door. • Death by Banjo will perform at 8 p.m. Thursday, March 31. Death by Banjo performs a variety of musical styles fueled by intense, driving five-string banjo. Tickets are $8 online and $10 at the door. • Jim Volk will perform at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 7. He has played more than 200 dates across the country in the past year. He also conducts “The Electrified Acoustic Guitarist” clinic. Tickets are $8 online and $10 at the door. • The MAC has announced a
new “Nashville Singer/Songwriter” series. Shows are scheduled for March 26 (Rand Bishop), April 15 (Irene Kelley with Melissa Greener) and May 6 (Thom Schuyler and Friends). Purchase tickets to all three shows for $50. Ticket prices for individual performances vary. • “Chick Lit and Chocolate” will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 19. Enjoy chocolates, a vendor marketplace, Blingo!, fashion, art and an opportunity to meet author Heather Webber. Tickets are $35 and are available online. • Families can enjoy Family Fun at the MAC every Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon. Free. Observe the artists of the Ohio Plein Air Society in action throughout the winter months. • The MAC is offering special “lifestyle classes” in March and April.
