Midget Girls reach for the top The Devils Midget Girls’ Hockey Team are victorious. The young team beat out Cranbrook in a three-game playoff, advancing them to the provincials. The championships will be held in Coquitlam from March 19 to 25. “The girls were, as you can imagine, very excited since they are the first girls’ hockey team from the area to make it to provincials,” said hockey mom Lisa Kebe. “Our girls had a great season this year, beating the first and second place teams in the league to finish the season in fifth out of 12 teams.” Their performance was much better than anticipated. The girls have come a long way this season and are very much looking forward to playing in Coquitlam. Good luck, Devils!

Travel Club heads for Europe

By Kelsie Ede The David Thompson Secondary School Travel Club will depart from the Calgary airport on March 16th for their 13-day excursion to Europe. Over the course of the trip they will visit selected parts of Italy, Greece and Rome and enjoying a three-day cruise of the beautiful whitewashed isles of Greece. These 22 students embarking on this wonderful journey will be accompanied by chaperones Werner Kopp, Louise Nicholson, Brian Stade, and Fay Stade. After planning the trip for almost a year, the group is more than ready to set off to Europe, where they will explore wonders such as the Colosseum, the Sistine Chapel, Pompeii, Roman ruins and the Athenian cemetery. With a busy schedule ahead of the them, it is obvious the Travel Club is in for an adventure they will never forget. What are you looking forward to most about the trip? Storm Blakely -Mainly the Colosseum and the Vatican. Emily Kohorst - Anywhere in Italy. Stephanie Horvath - Seeing the Colosseum. Toni Tourond - Seeing the Greek Islands on the cruise ship.
