Come join the Columbia Economics Review for a conversation with Professor Michael Woodford! Prof. Woodford’s talk will be “Forward Guidance as a Tool of Monetary Policy” and there will be a Q&A session after the event. Refreshments and snacks will be served. Michael Woodford’s primary research interests are in macroeconomics theory and monetary policy. He has written extensively about the microeconomic foundations of the monetary transmission mechanism, the role of interest rates in inflation determination, consequences of imperfect information for macroeconomics adjustment, rules for the conduct of monetary policy, central-bank communication policy, and interactions between monetary and fiscal policy. His first academic appointment was at Columbia in 1984, after which he held positions at the University of Chicago and Princeton University, before returning to Columbia in 2004.
