Charles Hazlewood brings his mesmerising project celebrating the life of David Bowie to Colston Hall. Bowie’s great Heroes and Low albums are re-expressed and reasserted through Philip Glass’s musical idiom, an artist whom Bowie cited as a major influence on his work. Every year the Lord Mayor of Bristol’s Children’s Appeal helps more than 1,600 underprivileged children in Bristol with gifts of vouchers that can be redeemed for food and clothing at Christmas. This annual concert will feature performance from Bristol Cathedral Children’s Choir, Bristol Youth Choir and Bristol Male Voice Choir and will be presented by singer Alexandra Denman.

Singer, songwriter, raconteur and entertainer Loudon Wainwright III is, says The New York Times, “far and away the most candid diarist among the singer-songwriters”. His songs have been covered by Johnny Cash, Norma Waterson and his own son, Rufus. The special guest for the show is Loudon’s friend and collaborator for 40 years, the musician and philosophy professor Chaim Tannenbaum.
